What's the difference between a Duke Tax Client and a Duke Tax Member?

At Duke Tax, we recognize that a membership may not be the right fit for everyone. Our clients are individuals who engage with our services on a one-time basis, such as those who visit us annually for tax return preparation. Clients comprise the majority, making up 95% of our base, and rest assured, they receive the same level of dedicated care and attention as our members.

On the other hand, members constitute 5% of our client base and enjoy an elevated experience with additional services, including bookkeeping and tax advisory. Memberships are tailored for individuals who require a comprehensive bundle of services rather than just a single service, making it the perfect choice for those looking for a holistic approach to their financial needs.

Once I become a Duke Tax Member, what are the next steps?

After making the decision to become a member, your journey with Duke Tax begins promptly. You'll receive immediate access to your client portal, and if necessary, we'll arrange an onboarding call to ensure a seamless and hassle-free process. During this call, we'll also walk you through our informative Welcome Guide, designed to get you started on the right foot.

The next crucial step involves meeting with your dedicated Executive Bookkeeper. This session is designed to ensure that your bookkeeping is up-to-date and well-organized. In the event that cleanup is required, please allow up to 30 days from your initial meeting with your Executive Bookkeeper for this process to be completed.

For our esteemed Tier II and X Members, once the bookkeeping process is successfully completed, you'll have the privilege of meeting with your Executive Tax Advisor. This private consultation is a pivotal opportunity to delve into tax strategies meticulously tailored to your unique lifestyle, as well as gain access to valuable tips and resources to nurture the growth of your business.

Does the Duke Tax Membership include all of our tax returns?

Yes, the Duke Tax Membership includes the preparation of all business and personal tax returns.

It's important to note that in certain cases, your membership cost might exceed the standard pricing listed on our website.

This can happen if you have multiple LLCs or S-Corps, or if you maintain more than three business bank or credit card accounts.

We tailor our services to accommodate your specific needs, ensuring you receive the comprehensive support necessary to manage your unique financial situation effectively.

If I start a Membership towards the end of the year, is it pro-rated?

At Duke Tax, we aim to offer flexibility and fairness in our membership pricing. When a partial year remains, we pro-rate your memberships to ensure you're only charged for the services you actually use, such as advisory.

Typically, our Tier I membership is not pro-rated, but both Tier II and Tier X can be adjusted based on your specific circumstances.

A significant portion of our membership comprises tax preparation and bookkeeping, which involves a fixed cost of $4,000 for both business entity and individual tax returns, including annual tax planning.

Regardless of whether you join us in January or December, we must prepare a full-year tax return and provide bookkeeping services. This may result in a higher monthly cost for the remaining months of the current year, but rest assured, your monthly cost will later decrease in the following year to align with the standard amounts mentioned above.

Our goal is to ensure transparency and fairness in our billing process so you always receive value for your investment.
